The Arunachala

Image
A   mighty column of divine fire with grace, R aced above and beneath the earth's surface. U nable to find its foot and zenith, though tried, N either Vishnu nor Brahma won the battle of pride. A nd the moment Vishnu surrendered with humility, C reator Brahma claimed false victory out of vanity. H ence, Almighty declared Brahma shall not be adored, A nd blessed Vishnu with fame that shall never corrode. L ord Ardhanareeshwara is He, giving us Salvation; A runachala is He, the ultimate form of compassion. This poem on Arunachala, the sacred Thiruvannamalai, is written using each letter in the word 'Arunachala' as the first letter, in order, of the successive lines.

The New Year

Image
Comes a 'New Year' soon here,      full of people's hope and cheer. Most of us wish good and pray;      others think it is not their day. The former looks for luck in bulk      and the latter always wants to sulk. A new year neither takes nor pays;      it's only a bundle of 365 days. If we find no use in resolution;      we need to  work for realization.

Adorable Almighty

Image
Man thinks Science  explains how is that and what is what; with conscience, shouldn't he  spy his own silly thought?   Man tells that   Human is superior to all creatures; then why the hell  does he fear the blows by nature? Man can explain  the complex functions of brain; still, is that him w ho put inside the pod its tiny grain?   Man knows well  the concept of wounds and healings, yet he struggles  to manage his own inner feelings. Man explores the sky,  the earth and the chilly moon; can he ever fly to  the fiery Sun, now, later or soon?  For  anatomy, man  cuts open the body that is moulded; does he ever fancy  how its parts there got embedded? Thinking of these  once, twice or even more than thrice, man should try and  make himself forever and ever wise.   For sure there dwells an adorable holy divine power, and that is the only  almighty, truly our superior.
